Description of the method

  • Production of exposed aggregate concrete surfaces with two systems:
    • Exposed aggregate concrete pavement without foil
    • Exposed aggregate concrete pavement with foil
  • Production of the exposed aggregate concrete surface:
    • Applying the contact retarder including evaporation protection directly behind the slipform paver
    • Uncovering the coarse grain structure by removing the surface mortar with sweeping machines after sufficient hardening of the concrete
    • Examining of the elution depth by use of sand-patch method
    • Spraying curing onto the concrete surface
  • Carriageway properties achieved by exposed aggregate concrete pavement:
    • low vibrations
    • long-lasting
    • noise reduction
    • Good grip even on wet carriageways
    • Reduced water splashing on wet surface
